Agastache scrophulariifolia | giant purple hyssop

Agastache scrophulariifolia comes with a mouthful of a name, but this is the “purple hyssop” that is truly native to the northeast. Thriving in full sun to part shade in moist to average soils, giant purple hyssop actually produces white or very pale lavender flowers and is an important nectar plant for several species of at-risk native bumblebees. Plants can get quite tall (4-6’) and work well in meadow gardens and hedgerows, or as accents in more controlled perennial borders. It has a long bloom time followed by winter interest from the dried seed heads. REGIONAL ECOTYPE.
