Chamaecrista fasciculata | partridge pea

Partridge pea is a fast growing native annual wildflower that will persist by self-seeding. It can be a short-term solution—used to occupy space while slower-growing perennials are establishing—or as a permanent resident within garden beds or meadow gardens. When seeded in spring, plants will germinate in late May or June and will begin flowering by summer, offering cheerful yellow blossoms that provide excellent pollinator support. Because partridge pea is a tap-rooted annual, we only offer this species as seeds. Plants reach 18-24” tall.

Each packet contains approximately 250 seeds.

SOWING

Direct sow as soon as possible after winter. If seeding later in spring, germination will be improved by scarification, which can be achieved by superficially abrading the seed coat with medium-grit sandpaper. Plant seeds approximately 1/8” deep.

SPACING

Partridge pea plants are usually seeded densely for high coverage, but allow 6-12” between plants if growing just a few plants in the garden.

Annual flower seeds are not grown by Tiny Meadow Farm. These seeds were produced in the Northeast.
