Chamaenerion angustifolium | fireweed

Fireweed is bold—both in flower color and plant vigor. This one spreads rapidly and is best for a natural meadow or large property. Reaching 2-4 feet tall when in flower, the vivid magenta blossoms are easy to spot even from a distance, especially since this one can form large clonal colonies. Our plants have their origin in the Catskills area of NY, and they are happy in full sun (afternoon shade is appreciated, though) in moist soils.
