Chasmanthium latifolium | Northern sea oats

This grass is an eastern native, hailing from the mid-Atlantic region and areas west. It is a large clump-forming grass and a prolific self-seeder, so we find it extremely useful for filling space quickly—especially in part shade or shade. Its leaves are a soft green (or chartreuse in full sun), and it produces beautiful dangling seeds beginning in late summer. Prefers moist soil, but tolerates more dryness with less direct sunlight. Can reach 3’ tall and wide.
