Turtlehead can be found growing locally near wetlands and in moist forests. It is most frequently found in partially shaded conditions, though it is happy in full sun if provided a consistently moist soil. Blooming in late summer with flower spikes reaching 3’ tall, it is also the host plant for the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly. Grown form wild-collected seed.
