Cosmos bipinnatus is a non-native annual flower that is naturalized in the United States and frequently used as a quick-growing pollinator plant to fill gaps while perennials become established.
SOWING
Direct sow in garden after all danger of frost has passed, preferably when soil temperatures reach 60-70F. Plant seeds approximately 1/4” deep into loose, well prepared soil. Expect germination in 6-10 days. Seeds can be started in pots inside 4-6 weeks before the last frost.
SPACING
Allow 12-18” inches between plants. Pinching stem tips (pruning off the top 2-3” on the main stem) when plants reach approximately 12” tall will result in bushier plants with more flowering branches and longer stems.
Annual flower seeds are not grown by Tiny Meadow Farm.
