Of the four joe-pye species native to our region, sweet joe-pye tolerates part shade better than the rest. Still reaching a towering height of 5-7’, sweet joe-pye is a natural fit for a sunny woodland edge or a large perennial garden. Like all members of this genus, this plant offers wonderful pollinator support and is a magnet for butterflies when it blooms in late July and August. Prefers a medium to moist soil. LOCAL ECOTYPE
