Uvularia grandiflora | Large Bellwort

Also known as merry bells, large bellwort is an early spring blooming wildflower with unique pendulous flowers and leaves. Although this species blooms at the same time as our spring ephemerals, it is a true woodland perennial that holds its foliage—which opens after after the plants flower—throughout the growing season. Plant in part to full shade with other woodland natives.

Uvularia grandiflora has a native range that includes western NY and western New England, but not southern CT or NY. Because it is not locally native, we recommend this species for woodland and shade gardens, but not for woodland restoration projects.

Offered as bare root in late fall only; plant immediately after pickup. Preordering begins in late summer.
